The one time I used a mover, I call up this hispanic guy for a quote. I accepted it. Moving day, the guys shows up with his buddy. They worked with great efficiency. When it was time to paid, I gave them cash for the amount agreed upon. He thanked me and said whenever I move again to give him a call. Pretty simple.

Two Men and a Truck here in Lafayette. Moved 7-8 minutes away. They got there around 8:30-9am. Left around 5:30pm. 2 movers. $1260 total. 2 trips, but the second trip was just an outdoor swing set, fridge, and trampoline. My wife and I rented the largest Uhual over the weekend and loaded/unloaded that ourselves. This was a month ago.

I talk to the guys beforehand and tell them I have $100 for each of them if they do a good job, don't drop anything, don't scrape the doorways, etc. Then I make sure to offer them water and lunch. It makes a difference.

I tip two bottles of water and a bag of chips. Then, when they're done, I pay that expensive arse bill.

They aren’t paid shite loser. You’re cheap as frick. I’ve used 2 men and a truck here in FL twice. These guys busted it for 6 hours in the fricking brutal heat. 100/each to me means nothing.

Do better loser.

Just went through this nightmare so here’s what I’d suggest

Tip Half up front and let them know the other half will be paid once they’re done. I tipped each guy (3) $100 each. One guy got his tip and then left shortly after.

Get clear direction on what needs to be disassembled and what they can disassemble and reassemble. We were told they’d do it all and the crew that was sent had zero ability to take beds apart.

Get clear guidance on how many people they intend to send. If they don’t send the number, call immediately and cancel or have them send additional help. We were told it would be a 4 man crew and everything would take 5hrs. 3 guys showed, and 1 left. It took them over 12 hours and they left 2 homes in chaos.

DO NOT let them hold anything on the truck if they can’t complete the move in the time allotted. Find out their cutoff time and get your stuff. I heard horror stories after of people having their stuff held until full payment was received.

Don’t go for the “all inclusive” companies.

Read RECENT reviews when doing your research. The total score may be 4* or whatever but recent reviews may show the company has gone to crap.

Hope this helps to prevent what I went through.

Don’t listen to anyone in this thread. It’s the reason the tip culture is out of hand as is. Tip whatever you feel like tipping, whether it’s $0 or $50. Doesn’t matter, it’s your money.

After bragging about how your mortgage is over 7K a month and you were getting a new AC system with zones in each room and buying a new tesla for about 100K I find it very trashy of you to think $20 per dude is an acceptable tip.

This is always true, but it's been pretty commonly accepted that you generally should tip movers. It's not a new concept.
