Uh, except thats exactly correct.
an agent producers normally aren't owners of an agency.
50% or more usually goes to agency, 50% or less goes to actual producer of commissions earned.

5 million worth of premiums don't fall off trees either.

How much does the run of the mill guy in the office make though?
For instance, you go to the John Doe branch of State Farm. John Doe is probably making damn good money but how much are the associate guys making, on average? The guys who work everyday as opposed to "whenever they want".

10-12% goes to agency, not necessarily agent.

As I understand it compensation differs with the same company depending on how long you've been there. An agent of 30 years told me he wouldn't recommend getting into it currently.

This # could be skewed a bit..
B/c some of my personal line companies mainly auto pay less that 10% on renewal biz...
So if you don't have a lot a of turn over with that company and a bunch a prem. then you could be looking at a little less

not at all. nearly all agencies have agents producing for them that aren't owners of agency

WEll I guess the big commercial agencies like Ellsworth, Pauls, Franks, Laris, etc, have several agents, but the mom and pops only have one agent and they are usually the owner
