Not long till skilled trades are replaced by machines. When that happens the need for managers will fall sharply. It will be interesting to see.

How do you think they keep the ice cream machines in such immaculate shape?

I believe the speed that this will occur is vastly overrated.

Weren't we going to see large numbers of automated trucks on the road in five years, two years ago?

My company runs a few thousand, haven't heard anything about buying any yet.

Even if fully automated someone has to be there to double check or verify the automation.

No they don't. We'll just accept a .01% error rate and move on.

Except for two guys, both of whom are easily automatable, I've already automated all of my corporate purchasing.

What if automation turns it into a 5 minute process that can be done at a local gas station (recharge station) while you refuel. Doesn't seem far fetched.

Just so you know, you are the #1 target of sales replacement with AI.

Cost of doing business. The new normal.

Remember when cheap chinese shite starting flowing into our country, and people said people will never buy that, the shite breaks and you have to keep replacing it year after year? People kept buying anyway, and eventually it is the new normal that we expect shite to break and have to be replaced, always, in perpetuity.

The New Normal.

Your purchasing is one thing. Research and Development rely upon people talking to people and developing the relationship between two business entities in order to make things happen. Ultimately, somebody has to be sold, whether the spitting out of a P.O. is automated or not.

So, we will grow to accept that one 1 of every 10,000 people to walk across a crosswalk will be struck by a car.

Or

1 out of 10,000 flights won't land safely. (About 10 a day)
