I had mine taken out when I was 19.
It ruptured on the way to surgery. I was out about 4 days but because it burst, I had to go back in because I had a fever for 2 days after I left the hospital. I was in the hospital the 2nd time for about a week.
So over all I was not able to do anything for about 3 weeks. Then a slow recovery

It depends on wether it burst, when it burst, and other possible complications. Couple be anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of months.
