My mom is 92 and broke her wrist a couple of months ago.
On Monday I took her to the orthopedic to have it examined.
We arrived 30 minutes early. She checked in while I went to the bathroom. By the time I got back, she was already in x-ray. They removed her cast and took x-rays. The doc came in just a minute or two later. Reviewed the results of the x-rays. Gave her a wrist brace. Set her up with a follow-up appointment and said we were good to go.
We were out of there in less than 30 minutes - before the originally scheduled appointment time.

That shite pisses me off. All they do is interpret your blood test results anyway. I should be able to go and get blood drawn and him send an e-mail interpreting the shite. I am not looking for small talk…as I see it, he is a consultant.
Every quality doc I’ve visited over the years insists on seeing, touching and hearing a patient. Bring a dicit is hands on at the clinical level

Depends on what meds you’re waiting to be prescribed.

I guess it all depends. Is it because the doctor is taking their time with each patient or because they overbooked like a motherfricker?
People don't want to be rushed at the doctor but a lot also want really tight punctuality. As in anything one or two issues with a couple of patients and you're likely going to get backed up. Always try to make early appointments and this tends to get a lot better.

As someone who has had a heart attack and had my cardiologist meet me at the hospital, I am a bit more forgiving of them being late. Sometimes things come up.
And that's the thing.
Practicing medicine is not like being an auto mechanic. If someone comes in with a complicated, serious situation, what is the doctor supposed to do? Tell the patient, "I'm sorry, you could be having a heart attack right now, but I have to respect all the other patient's time, so I'm afraid I'm going to have to end this encounter at the end of the timeslot we had set aside for your case. But I promise we'll get as much done as we can in the time we have!"
People are so dumb about this.
Not to mention, hypocritical.
The whiner crying about the doctor being late is also the same whiner who would be the first to complain because the doctor didn't spend enough time with him or her and allow them to ask all of the questions they wanted to ask and listen to all of the irrelevant information they wanted to the doctor to listen to.
And finally, the reason doctors' offices overbook by 30% (and they do) is because so many people these days feel just fine about not showing up for their scheduled appointment and not calling or giving any notice whatsoever.
Every time you do that, you are the reason the office then has to overbook to make sure they don't end up with nobody for the doctor to see.

It's both.
But as long as people no-show for appointments like they do (and have for probably 30 years now), they are going to overbook.
They'd go out of business if they didn't.
So if you're one of those assholes who no-shows for appointments, congratulations. You are the reason for that.

I’ve done first thing in the morning and they are still late by 35.0 minutes!
I had the first appointment of the day at my old doctor. Still waited 45 minutes. When they took my blood pressure it was higher than normal and I told them it was because I’m pissed they took so long. Found a new doctor that is on time every time and haven’t looked back
