Real easy to prevent, hook the fuel pump signal wire to a hidden switch. No fuel pressure means no start.

Back in the day not every Tom/Dick/Harry could buy a pair of bolt cutters.
Thieves would douse The Club with Freon and smack it with a 5lb sledge to break it.

That would be a lot of effort... they had/have a wafer lock... if it took more than 5 seconds to rake the lock open (with a paperclip) you were obviously doing it wrong.

You don't cool and smack the lock area- that's basically inaccessible.
You hit the thinnest part of the ratcheting chrome bar thing.
