My perception of a trophy wife is that she has no other redeeming qualities other than good looks.

Simple equation:
Wife >8 and husband <4 = trophy wife
Wife >8 and husband >8 = power couple
Wife <4 and husband >8 + younger than wife = boy-toy
Wife >8 and husband >2x wife's age +wealthy = gold-digger(wife)
Wife >8 and husband <4 = trophy wife
Wife >8 and husband >8 = power couple
Wife <4 and husband >8 + younger than wife = boy-toy
Wife >8 and husband >2x wife's age +wealthy = gold-digger(wife)

That's only half of the equation. Trophy wives are invariably defined as having little value beyond their physical beauty.
