I'm doing something similar with just the people that matter. I would rather give the money that I would have wasted on a funeral to my wife/kids

My dad passed away two months ago. It cost $14K to bury him. Thankfully, my mom had burial + life insurance to cover it.

Telling grieving relatives how they should bury you, from the grave or before, is selfish as frick. Be it demanding something elaborate or something simple you are demanding. Leave it up to those who remain, funerals are for the living who are grieving.
