re: How can American society fix this mass shooter phenomenon?

We've always had the guns yet only averaged 1-2 mass shootings a year until the 90s. We're already at 10 this year and it's still May. So stop wasting political capital on the inanimate objects.

Have we? Have we "always" had more guns in private hands than total number of residents?

Yes.

Does the inanimate object make it way easier to kill mass amounts of people?

Perhaps, but I just don't see Americans leaving. I don't see them addressing the mass murder problem either.
The "mass murder problem" can be fixed at HOME. Unfortunately too many parents are too busy with jobs/careers to fix it at HOME, or they simply don't care. Everyone wants to blame the almighty evil GUN as the problem, but that's just a scapegoat they use to keep from being bothered with fixing the REAL problem at HOME !
I have a house full of guns, have had guns even before I was a teenager.....not once has one of those evil GUNS jumped up by itself and started firing at me ! The problem isn't the GUN.....it's the Idiot behind the gun ! Where can the idiocy be remedied....at HOME !

Most of these shooters are mentally ill, the treatment options available for the mentally ill are seriously lacking. Even parents with the best intentions have difficulty finding the help they need when dealing with a mentally ill child.

I am sure you can explain why Europe who has the exact same video games and music does not have this issue.
To what extent are their kids medicated ? Plus, societal issues play a large role in it. You can discount what I believe all you want, as we're all free to have our own thought process (at least for now), but as I said.....the proof is easy to recognize if you are willing to look at the issues I described, and the time frame in which things evolved.
We are talking about your assertion that video games and music play a large roll as a cause for school shootings. Europe clearly shows they do not have those issues even though they play and listen to the same music. You can look at other differences between the two, but the whole music and video game boogeyman is as baseless in the 80's when Tipper Gore was on her crusade as it is now.

Let’s say there is some mentally ill homicidal maniac, would you rather him have access to a gun or not have access to a gun?

And when did the mental issues with kids become so rampant ? After parents got too busy to love/care for them as needed because of jobs/careers and keeping up with the Jones's. That's when parents decided it was just easier to take them to the "Doctor" and have them medicated !
As I said earlier, it aint rocket science folks, all you have to do is open your eyes and look subjectively at the time frame in relation to the problem.

I'm 99.99999999% sure that homicidal maniac would have already been granted a Driver License by a State/Government agency, enabling him to drive to the evil gun store in a 3500 pound death machine capable of mass destruction, and death !
So....mental evaluations should be given as a precursor to obtaining a Driver License ! If the homicidal maniac can't get to the evil gun store then problem solved, right ?
See the irony there ?

and yet you fail at seeing the totality of the circumstances. All anyone wants to do is have knee jerk reactions and blame guns, without even considering the root cause of the problem. As always, everyone looks for a quick, easy fix......that just happens to coincide with the agenda. We should build a fence around this Republic because it's full of mindless sheep !

No I don’t, it’s a terrible point.

Heard Abbott say there wasn't any mental health bed or facility in Uvalde or the county. Thinking about it, I don't think Upshur county does with 35K census. That may be a great place to start.

I would put the legal age to purchase a gun in the 25-30 range. The majority of mass shooting suspects are sub 25. Full comprehensive background checks. Massive penalties for anyone holding or supplying someone with a weapon that can't legally own one.

Have I blamed guns? Not at all. You are the one throwing out music and video games as a major cause based on no substance at all. You just look ignorant.

You think Abbott is going to propose new spending to fund universal mental healthcare in Texas? And any shortfall funding to meet and shortfalls in medical facilities for an area?
Thats the issue with these appeals to improving "mental care," like sure, I agree, so lets do something, and then.....nothing.

Is that what you're waiting for to happen?
23 years after Columbine, good luck with that.

Yep, I've been hearing that for almost 25 years, and yet we still have the mass murders.
We simply don't want to do what it takes to solve the problem. We'd obviously rather live with all the mass murders. It's barbaric.

Huh? I suppose not, but we’d also have to take away his knives, his car, and his ability to make an explosive.
OR
Perhaps we should get him some mental help.
This might work - and still retain EVERYONE ELSE’S 2nd amendment right.

No, you haven't come right out and blamed guns, but it seems very implied. If wrong, my apologies kind Sir.
As for my accusations towards video games, and violent music, numerous studies have been done and they overwhelmingly support my accusations.
As far as looking ignorant, as you say.....many years ago I learned an important lesson in life. I don't give a flying rats butt what people think of me. It's my life, my thoughts, my beliefs, and I support them 100% If someone else agrees with me, fine. If someone doesn't, that's fine too.....I sleep like a rock every night !
