He was a former Jefferson County deputy sherrif. He said when someboby got in trouble with the sheriff, the punishment was to work the Walker/Jefferson county line. Walker County was dry, Jefferson was wet, so there were a few joints just across the line. Pretty rough places and kinda known for fights and such.
