Looks like Colonial Williamsburg.
I've been there before.
Neat place. tripped me out that while it's a tourist attraction you pay for, like half the houses are private residences.

OK, shifting gears off of my usual, but it is in the early 1700's time frame (American). What and where is it?
I'll abstain from this one as I was there only a few years ago.

Yep. The Governer's Palace, to be exact. We go every year on Veterans Day (free admission for military). Awesome place - we usually end up also doing the Williamsburg/Yorktown/Jamestown triangle.

Heck if I know. The sides appear be armored, though that isn't much help. I see a three-master on the left side behind it that appears to be an older style frigate.
American?

It is French. It was the world's first ironclad but I can't remember the name.

That's an Italian Semovent (spelling?) 75/18 self propelled gun. It was one of the few halfway decent armored fighting vehicles the Italians possessed during the war. it still suffered from a lack of punch due to it's low velocity 75mm gun.

That's the spirit.
In the meantime...
What famous military unit used this emblem in WWI?
BONUS: This emblem was adopted as a play on this unit's commander's last name. Who was he?

Actually you're not far off. His name translates to English as Skeleton Key.
