Shinano

Correct. She started out life with the intention of being the third of the Yamato class battleship but was converted to an aircraft carrier during construction. She was only commissioned for a dew weeks before being sunk by an American sub. She was the world's largest aircraft carrier ever built until the 50's....

That's a Sopwith Snipe. It replaced the venerable Sopwith Camel late in the war i do believe.

She remains (and probably will forever) the largest ship ever sunk by a submarine.

That's a German "Flakpanzer ostwind". It's a self propelled 2 cm anti-aircraft gun based on on a Panzer Mk. IV hull.

Name, timeframe, country of origin, and what was it used for?

Canopy looks more SNC-1 than CW-22.

The photo is the key. The aircraft was captured by the Japanese. The SNC-1 was only used by the US Navy as a trainer and wasn't in a position to be captured meaning the aircraft in the photo has to be a CW-22.

Oh sweet geezus, Darth. That is one heck of an obscure plane. I do not know what it is, but that is a beast of a WW1 plane...
