What does this German tank....
And this American tank...
Share in common? (Besides they're big fricking tanks)

This thread is awesome. I'd like to make a contribution.
Can anyone tell me who this man is?
It's a tough one. But the reason why he is known is actually pretty fascinating.

Top speed of 60 mph,
The Konigstiger could not get even half that. As for the M1A1, I've had them over that despite the fact the "official" top speed is like 45 mph.

Pretty much all tanks have that.
Here's a hint: It has to do with the main gun.

No. The King Tiger had a 8.8cm gun. The M1A1 does have a 120mm though.
I'll give it another minute then reveal what those two guns share in common.

Main gun is smooth bore.

Gyroscopic stabilization? Smooth bore?

Nevermind. Just looked closer.

What the King Tiger's 8.8 cm gun and the M1A1 120m m gun share in common is the fact both guns are German and are products of a corporation named Rheinmetall.
Yes, that's right. The same company that built tank guns for the German's in WWII is now making tank guns for the US as well.

Who's quote is this:
quote:
Avoid fried meats which angry up the blood. If your stomach disputes you, lie down and pacify it with cool thoughts. Keep the juices flowing by jangling around gently as you move. Go very light on the vices, such as carrying on in society. The social ramble ain't restful. Avoid running at all times. Don't look back. Something might be gaining you.

Sounds like something Ben Franklin or Mark Twin might say but I've never seen this quote before.
