It was named Goliath. It was a small, tracked, remote controlled bomb intended to be driven up to things like tanks and bunkers then detonated. The Germans made a shite ton of them during WWII

Not much on older weapons except for Civil War and WWII (some)...
Is that a ramrod under the barrel? Hmm, maybe not cause it's a bolt action...

you mean ram rod? If so, no, it's not a ram rod. This weapon was not a muzzle loader.

It's a British made 25 pounder. Past that I'm not sure.

Yep. It's the "Mirbat Gun", used by the SAS in the Battle of Mirbat, fought between 9 SAS soldiers and a handful of Omani soldiers, and hundreds of Communist guerillas in Mirbat, Oman on July 19, 1972.

Pre-American Civil War. But this is a European weapon.

I would guess that is the Japanese rifle used in WW2, since it seems that other major countries had move advanced rifles.

Significance? Did it kill more Americans than any other small arms in the war?

Ah, I knew what type of gun is was but did not know what that particular one was important. Cool, thanks.

There were bolt action rifles before the 1860s?

Sorry, No. That is the Prussian Dreyse "Needle" Gun. It was the standard infantry weapon of Prussian Infantry from 1848 - 1871.

LINK

It's significance is that it was the first mass produced breach loading bolt action rifle.

I've gotta call it a night folks... I will check in later if I get time.
