That ship is the destroyer that brought the nukes that bombed Japan, right? I believe it was the USS Indiana or Indianapolis.

No sir. Might be to obscure, though. Hint: Today, she sits in Charleston...

Karma for the LSU fans that upvoted that.

The Indianapolis was a cruiser and she did deliver the A-Bomb to Tinian. But that's not her. The Indy was a lot bigger than the ship in that picture

Yep...had to. She was hit with no fewer than seven kamikazees and suffered severe damage.

I'm resisting the urge to google search.

ETA: Ok, I had to do it. Curiosity killed this cat but at the same time, I feel like a tiny bit smarter now. This is the USS Laffy. According to the article I read, it was deemed "the ship that wouldn't die" after surviving multiple kamikaze attacks during WWII.

Cool pic and thanks for making me learn something.

Madonna. No idea about the year but I'd say late 70's or early 80's before she hit it big.

Will defer to our resident tank guru for that one...

I believe they did. Those are what makes it easy to identify as the Cromwell.
