Too bad he never wrote a book about it. That had to be a helluva experience.

No doubt. I would have read it, that's for sure.

Darth, forgive me if you've already said this (or if it's just common knowledge on the OT), but how in the hell do you know all of these things?

It was called the Duck but I can't remember it's official nomenclature.

Well three things.
1. I learned to read at a really young age.
2. Almost 40 years of non-stop reading of history related books.
3. I have an odd almost photogenic memory when I read things. The reverse to this however is if you tell me something I'll forget it in a matter of minutes. I also struggle to remember things like what I ate for lunch yesterday.
In other words, I'm a freak.

Ok, what is this and what is it off of?
Posted on 7/29/14 at 1:30 pm to Darth_Vader
Correct, sir. It was the JF-1 Duck.

To be fair, I just completed a model of this less than a week ago. That's the rear ball turret off a Grumman TBF Avenger.

The Mausers, who captured them and who used them about 66 years ago.

Is that one of those auto-turrets off a B-29?
(Wild guess, BTW)
ETA: Crap - guess not.

The B29 turrets didn't have any glass in them.

Hot Dog down a hallway.

Nope. They were all remotely controlled.

That looks to be the flight hanger of a Japanese I-400 class submarine.
