Excellent sir. Marsaille was considered one of, if not the top, skilled air-to-air gunnery masters (didn't know how else to say it other than top shot) of them all. His skill with the deflection shot was par none.

Supposedly, he got kills with as few as 12-15 rounds expended. On the other hand, he claimed something like 17 kils on a day when the Allies lost only 14 or so aircraft......

ETA
Hartmann was also considered an outstanding marksman. He said 'One can kill an aircraft from as many positions as are possible, if one has a feel for deflection shooting".

As for the picture I posted, what you're seeing there is the aftermath of the Johnstown Flood of 1889. In short, lots of rain caused a dam to fail...

First American auto with gas powered internal combustion engine. It was called a Dureah (I know I butchered that spelling)

As for year, I have no idea. I'll guess and say 1896?

Close enought.

Ford's car was in 1896.

I am not much on WWI a/c. The roundels look British.

The first to shoot down a balloon (WAG)?

No. Here's a hint: This aircraft's historic first accomplishment was not war related.

Set some sort of altitude record? Other than that, no clue.
