Hitler and Stalin edited history, it seems we are headed down that path but it is the "anti fascist" that is rewriting history.

The ugly and the good need to be studied and remembered regardless of how uncomfortable.

I don't know who downvoted you, but you are correct. There is a heavy emphasis on minority contributions to history and major events are glossed over. Standardized tests, I think, are the culprit.

NO. The defocus of history and civics in school is part of the reason we are in this mess in the first place. People don't know where they came from or what it means to be American. They don't believe in American exceptionalism because they don't know the evils of other countries and political systems, namely communism.

agree. But I would add its not just the lack of focus, its the complete revision of historical events. Its altering history to fit a narrative and an agenda.

"Wrong side of history" is such a cancerous term.

Is it, at least with respect to morality? I understand people who didn't know any better, but once the tide started to turn on some of these hot-button topics, I don't give people the benefit of the doubt any longer.

I guess they're making up for lost time. How many minority contributions were discussed in 1950s textbooks?

I'm not quite sure.

This argument makes no sense.

Since whites have always been the majority of the population in this country it's only obvious that one would expect that most of the achievements were from white people. One wouldn't study Rwandan history and say "hey where all the white achievements?" would they?

Was George Washington Carver not covered in US history until here recently? For example.

This nonsense has to stop.

It's not an argument, it's just a point about how history books in schools have always been skewed based on the beliefs held when they were written.
