Hip dysplasia for a young adult

So my hip has been bothering me and I finally decided to go to the Bone and Joint Clinic to get it checked out.
The initial diagnosis (only x-rays, no MRI yet) reveals that I might have hip dysplasia. For some reason I initially interpreted this as relatively good news.
However, upon further inspection via the Internet I discovered that was not the case. In order to correct the improperly formed hip socket, PAO surgery is typically required or even total hip replacement depending on how severe the displacement is.
Here's what really sucks...I'm only 23. frick me, right?

I had a total hip done at 29. hasn't really changed my activity. I skied about 25 days after surgery.

My cousin had her first total hip replacement in high school because her hip joints weren't shaped correctly (instead of ball and cup it was more like ball and plate). She had both replaced by 25. She's gone on to lead an active life.

That's how my right hip was when I was born. I'm good now except scar tissue in the joint.
No surgery, I was a baby so they fixed it by body casting and who knows what else.

That's pretty much how he described my hip socket. What's weird is that it appears to be just the right side.

Peak bone mass is achieved during childhood and early adolescence. I'm afraid I'm shite out of luck in that department.

After the last few injuries I have endured this meme has begun to take on a whole new meaning to me.

Yep, those 190 lbs really drag down my 6'0" frame.
