The only thing that really matters is if boys and girls were allowed to take others of the same sex on a date too

I admit, this assignment is kind of weird, but at least they are attempting to teach them something useful.
They didn't think it through all the way, looks like... but the spirit of the exercise isn't terrible. Just the execution.
