Do you think this would've ever happened if he wasn't involved in drug deals? I'm not justifying that he should've been shot, but every event like this from now on will be all about race.

Ya....or black people can stop committing so many crimes per capita. You always come in here and blame white people, you are a joke.

Yeah but the point is that the cop can whip out the taser before the situation escalates to the point where the cop thinks he's in a life or death struggle and has to use lethal force.
So based on what we know of this case, the cop would've had to taze the guy as soon as he stepped towards the back of the suv and not comply to the officer's put your hands up request. At that point he did nothing to be tazed. The minute he got into a scuffle it became a life or death situation due to the weapon attached to the cop's hip.

What?
He ran from the cop. There's plenty of time to use nom lethal force between then and the scuffle inside the apartment.

It just seems that deadly force is being used when it didn't have to go down that way.
Maybe minor drug use/deals really aren't worth pursuing someone and escalating a non violent situation.

Anytime someone loses his life, it's a tragedy, but what's an even bigger tragedy is to keep reliving the same mistakes. In most cases yes it can be said that there was some amount of resistance from the person who ended up dead, but is a death sentence warranted? Is learned distrust towards police officers in order to survive a factor that triggers some amount of resistance? Is the deaths of these individuals self fulfilling prophecies?
I'd like to think that nothing like that could ever happen to me, but my younger brother had a police officer pull his gun on him for absolutely nothing and the only reason it probably didn't escalate is because my uncle who is a very respected member of the community came outside because it happened right in front of his house, and my bother does not resist anything.

There's a gap in the story that I haven't seen yet and that's how the scuffle started. Of course all we have is the cop's version now. However, police are taught to draw their weapon when someone isn't complying and putting their hands in their pockets. If the cop chooses taser and the criminal has a gun, let's just say there wouldn't be any protests right now.

Of course it's tragic. No one said it wasn't. The real tragedy in all of this is ignorant folks can't stop doing ignorant shite. And I'm sure a cop just rolled up and pulled his gun for no reason while your brother was reading War and Peace on the front porch right?

I don't know why he reacted the way he did, but he told my uncle that my brother ran a stop sign when he crossed the street. If I had to guess he had ulterior motives.

Nothing to see here! Not like the guy was selling Girl Scout cookies and the moron resisted. I would have shot him had I been on the job. The real crime here is the peanuts that police get paid for having such a shitty job. If the black folk want to riot about somthing that is a good place to start. It's already difficult to find good cops because of the salary that is offered and the risk of getting killed. At this point Id probably be handing in my badge because protecting your own life is obviously second to protecting theives and drug dealers.

Don't commit crimes to keep the police away. Don't resist when they do show up and live. Simple rules of life.
