Just take the Magazine Street bus.
This is my advice, too. The Magazine route is one of the few in the city that is actually reliable and runs with somewhat frequency. Just get a day pass for like $3.00 and hop on and off as needed.

I don't find the food that good there
There is only a hundred or so restaurants in the area. Tell us about some of these places you ate at that weren't very good.

I'd get dropped off at Mag and Felicity and walk up river towards the park.
This. Theres some stuff she should check out from there to Jackson. And there's places for you to stop and drink. Then I'd grab a bus or another cab and stop around Washington and walk up to Louisiana. Ample drinking while she shops that stretch too. There's some stuff between Louisiana and Napoleon, but it's a lot of shops that have like 3 things but are probably all drug fronts because how else could they stay open. Then I'd stop again around Jefferson if you have any money left.
This does not account for food stops. I'd probably eat lunch at LPG or Shaya, which forces a stop around Napoleon.
