We did this really easy waterfall hike while there as well.

Can't remember the name....just remember we took the bus to this neighborhood near the University and the trail is at the end of the neighborhood. There is a Chinese restaurant right by the trail that bought the Polar Bear cages and the Orchid station from LOST and they have them displayed there(now THAT was cool to see if you are a LOST fan).

OP....we didn't have a rental car the entire time. Parking is like $30-40 a day at many of the hotels so we bought a 4 day bus pass for like $20 and took the buses to many places. Rented a car for our drives to the north shore, Turtle bay, PCC and to Pearl Harbor(the buses actually go there IIRC but we chose to drive).

Kailua Ranch (or something like that) is where they filmed Jurassic Park. We did the horseback ride through the ranch. It took about 2 hours total. Absolutely amazing. The views are breathtaking.

The boat is called the Na Hoku II. It is a yellow boat with a red and white sail. They go out during the day too and do swimming trips and stuff. Just go up to the boat when you see it on shore and you will be able to find someone with a clipboard and sing up for the booze cruise.

That sounds familiar. It was a lot of fun. Take some Dramamine if you are prone to sea sickness though...my friend didn't and she didn't fare so well towards the end (the mai tais she drink didn't help either)

I just looked up my pics...hike I went on was Manoa Falls Trail.

You should be able to see the whole island easily enough over that time period. You can pretty much drive around the shoreline of the whole island except it is very wet on the upper left side and there's not a whole lot to see on the left side anyway. You can probably pretty much skip it although they do have remote beaches on that side of the island. On the right and top side of the island the shoreline is dotted with parks and beaches.
-Pearl Harbor is a must including a boat ride out to the USS Arizona. You can spend a fair amount of time viewing things in this area.
- I liked hiking up Diamond Head and Koko Head. You have to walk up railroad ties to get to the top of Koko Head. Diamond Head has some spectacular views although it is a trek to the top.
-You'll want to visit the North Shore including Sunset Beach famous for the big waves. The Polynesian Cultural Center is also a good visit over there. Sacred Falls State Park is good as well as Waimea Falls Park.
-You'll want to visit the area around Makapu'u Beach on the lower right side of the island. Pali Lookout is a bit inward from there but good for photos.
-Snorkeling in Hanauma Bay is a must see and do. Be sure to get there early as it fills up quickly.
-The National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific is a good place to visit but don't stay too long.
-Honolulu and Wakiiki Beach of course and a lot of the stores stay open late.
-There's a good breakfast place in Downtown Honolulu that I really liked but can't remember the name. Overall I was never that impressed with the Oahu cuisine.
The Zoo and Aquarium were ok.
I love to fish but did so much of everything else I never got to it.
