Unfortunately I don't see that happening anytime soon. MDMA and LSD carry such heavy names that we would have to have some serious backing for either, especially with older generations still having influence. I can't stand argueing about marijuana as it reminds me of an 8th grader lobbyist on Facebook but look how long it took for that to come around. Our country can barely provide food and shelter to vets with mental issues, the idea of giving them hallucinogenics to "cure" them woild make my grandfather break out his casket

This was just posted on my FB feed

Founded in 1986, the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit research and educational organization that develops medical, legal, and cultural contexts for people to benefit from the careful uses of psychedelics and marijuana.

12 participants in total were involved in the study. Amazingly, every single participant reported experiencing major decreases in anxiety levels due to the LSD-assisted psychotherapy. These decreases in anxiety persisted even 12 months after being administered the LSD. Furthermore, no negative effects were reported by any of the participants. The study was led by Peter Gasser, M.D., who stated that,

…we had in 30 sessions (22 with full dose 200 µg LSD and 8 with placebo dose 20 µg LSD) no severe side effects such as psychotic experiences or suicidal crisis or flashbacks or severe anxieties (bad trips)…That means that we can show that LSD treatment can be safe when it is done in a carefully controlled clinical setting.

In a Reddit.com Ask Me Anything session Wednesday, Tony Macie, a 27-year-old retired U.S. Army sergeant from Vernon, Vt., praised the drug for helping him conquer his PTSD symptoms when psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and antidepressants couldn't. He also said the drug, which he took only once as part of a psychiatric study, helped him realize he had been turned into a numb "zombie" because of his addiction to prescription painkillers

"After about an hour of just relaxing and being in the present is when memories started to come up. For me if I tried to push them away I would feel anxious, but if I dealt with it and processed the memory, I would have a wave of pleasure come over my body. I believe that the MDMA was showing me how to deal with my trauma and also that it is more beneficial for me to face trauma head on than to try and ignore it or suppress it. I had a lot of powerful realization that day."

quote:

"MDMA-assisted psychotherapy, in our early studies, appears to allow people to revisit trauma in a therapeutic setting without being overwhelmed by emotions, but also without being cut off from emotions," Mithoefer wrote in the email. "This can allow them to process trauma in a way they had not been able to previously."

Some fascinating stuff

I support MAPS and am actually wearing my MAPS hoodie right now. Great organization!

They are running an MDMA trial in boulder, my therapist called to see if she could get me in but they said no, as i have cPTSD not PTSD.

Anyway, that is why we did the individual session without the trial.

The DMT thing is so intriguing but somewhat apprehensive at the same time. Under controlled conditions I would give it a try
