When I was little I has a menagerie in our fenced in back year.
1 chicken. Left over Easter gift. My dad built an elevated habitat
1 Guinea pig. My dad built a habitat with a light for warmth
Two painted sliders
Two box turtles one of which laid eggs. Teenie weenie baby box turtle’s
On early Saturday mornings we’d go to Downing Pines road to look for turtles. This was in the early to mid 70s. He was very agile and could crawl out on a log to catch a turtle

Later my parents built a house in the country (for that time).
After moving in I made it a regular process to find creatures.
1 scorpion. Croaked because it would eat
1 garter snake. Eaten by my cat
1 green grass snake Also eaten by my cat
A duck family that laid eggs. They hatched and one of my dogs killed them. fricking pissed me off. It was really my fault for not protecting them. Dog was acting on instinct.

I had a ferret when I was a kid. Those things are hilarious and fun to play with, typically docile and cuddly.

They reek of piss, no thanks

I had a hairless rat in high school. Was the smartest rodent I ever had. Ugly as hell but so cool. Liked to ride around in my pocket.

I always wanted a sloth.

Coyote. Found him in a den while hunting for pheasants. Took him home and feed him with a baby bottle.

Used him to hunt roadrunners when he grew up.
