We are planning a trip there next summer and are looking for advice on things to do, sites to see, from anyone who's been there before.

Yes. No rec's. Was broke then. Go to Costa Rica

What are you going for? Beach, diving, anything else?

The beaches (bays) are beautiful. The Crystal and Fantasy Caves. While there go across the street to Swizzle Inn for a rum swizzle or two.

Snorkel, dive and fishing are great. Sightseeing and shopping obviously - glass blowing and rum cake bakery are must sees. You will look love it.

Thanks for the replies!

We won a trip there staying at either (or both) at the Fairmont Hamilton or Southampton.

I'm planning on getting a little golf in, but outside of that, we're leaning on you.

Also, swim with the dolphins at the National Museum. Cool old fort at the Royal Naval Dockyard, now used by the cruise ships. Did not golf while there but have heard the courses are very nice. Enjoy. I would definitely go back.

It is my favorite place. Stay at the Sonesta Beach Resort.

Try to get a tee time at Mid-Island. It's a private club, but if you are a member somewhere, your pro may be able to get you on.

The vistas are beautiful. The beaches (and I hate sand) are remarkable. The water is so clear that you can walk in up to your waist and see your toes wiggle. That's important as you need to watch out for Portuguese Men-of-War.

Be careful of the sun. I got the worst burn of my life (through a shirt) the first time I was there.

If you are going to use a mo-ped remember to drive on the LEFT side of the road.

I enjoyed taking a boat off shore to a submarine and taking an underwater tour of wrecks and the marine life.

Enjoy your visit. It's a great destination.

ETA: And bring a lot of cash and credit cards. I expect your wife to hit Hamilton Harbor and the shops -- especially The Irish Linen Shop.

If you make it out to Mid-Ocean Golf Course (Tucker's Point Golf Club?), you may get to see diamondback terrapin nesting in the sand bunkers.

Terrapin are native to the brackish and salt marshes of the Atlantic and Gulf coasts, and colonized Bermuda sometime in the past 400 years or so due to the Gulf Stream.

(Nerd alert!)

Been there a few times. Stay at the south Hampton for better beach access, Hamilton princess is on the bay and you have to take the ferry to the Southampton beach. Rent scooters and cruise the whole island, the caves are cool, definitely hit the swizzle, there are two of them. If fishing is in your budget do that with either mako or challenger (assuming you are into deep sea fishing). Hit hamilton on Wednesday night for the block party. the best beaches are down by the fairmont south Hampton. Don't expect to be blown away by the food

If you wait til 2017 you could watch the America's Cup

The underwater exploration museum is cool.

The reefs hotel has a tea time around 2 everyday that has a spread of finger foods, supposed to only be for guests, but they don't check. Cheap way to grab a snack

Bermuda is beautiful. Flowers and shrubs everywhere, coral beaches and turquoise water... the people are refined, dignified, and there's very little poverty. The island is only about 20 miles or so long, so everything there is accessible by public bus. I say play it by ear and make your entertainment choices once you get there... but the suggestions here have been good ones.

One of the best vacations that I have ever been on was too Bermuda. The pink sand beaches are amazing. We went on a jet ski tour around the entire island and that was a lot of fun. We also went helmet diving another day and the whole family really enjoyed that. The locals are extremely friendly too, it should be a great trip.
