People who think it’s not that bad will be the problem. Plus sightseers that should not be on road will explore.

Not really. Just looking for a couple tubes or something to sled down the levee with for the kids…And I’m sure me.

Yet the highs should melt it by end of week right? Just chill at home and it’s over.

Imagine that sticking around for weeks if you don’t shovel.

Maybe. But I don't work in an industry where I can just stay home. I'd guess many others don't as well.

So we'll have people driving around skidding and sliding that have never driven in snow a single time in their lives.

I'm glad they closed the schools. I've got a high school daughter, and those kids don't need to be out in that. I know it's funny if you are from Minnesota but they've never been in it down here.

I've driven in snow some, and I'll be heading to work on Tuesday very carefully if I can get there.

Think I’m gonna set up a couple of camp chairs and bring a case of high life to Acadian and Perkins and just watch people try to drive all day

It's hard for many to understand how foreign this would be for South Louisiana people. I'm 47 years old and I've probably seen snow stick overnight here 4 times. I think that max was maybe 2-3 inches

Recommend inside the house opening any cabinets that have pipes in them (such as under your kitchen sink). It’ll allow the warm area inside to circulate around them and will also help prevent frozen pipes. Especially if you have a bathroom or kitchen sink on an outside wall.

We lost some foliage after the last big freeze, but after I trimmed and pruned, they pretty much all came back by Summer. I realized that doing more or less to cover them didn't seem to have a big impact. A Summer drought is a bigger problem.

They'll close it, but the Perkins overpass would be tier 1 BR driver watching if not.

I grew up driving rear drive cars, with no traction control, in the snow. Good for car control skills.

A couple tips-If you are driving a rear drive slip it into neutral when coming to a stop. Otherwise even at idle the car/truck will keep pushing you, lengthening your stopping distance. eta-Do the same if you have to back downhill. Let gravity pull you down. With the car in reverse, even at idle, it makes it much harder to control on ice.

Front drive/4x4-If your rear end starts trying to pass you, give it gas. Lifting is like putting on the front brakes, making the slide worse.

If your vehicle has selectable 2wd/Auto 4x4/4x4 (all three) just use the Auto 4x4 in snow/ice. Auto 4x4 keeps the stability control/ABS working normally. If you put it in 4x4 stability is disabled.

I usually use 4x4 in snow but I know what I am doing.

My butler does all of the cold weather prep. He also waxed the truck so the snow would slide right off.

Getting to work Tuesday may be doable. Getting home will be a different story though. IMO, Wednesday morning will be worse than Tuesday because it will get down to like 15 by Wed morning and that’s where the ice problem will come in.

Sounds like you did a lot of prep just not in the last couple days

We had the best intentions for storm prep this weekend, but yesterday morning instead of waking up and doing chores, my husband said he really didn't feel good and maybe we should go to urgent care and then he said no, maybe the Emergency room, so I threw on clothes and drove him to the hospital, dropped him off at the ER entrance and went to find parking. Got inside, scanned the waiting room, no hubby. They already had him stripping down in a room, EKG done, and rushed him upstairs to the cath lab,, this is a heart attack. He's only 51 btw, I'm 46. It's his 2nd heart attack, genetic vascular disease. I haven't slept more than 15 minutes since, but he was discharged after 24 hours in ICU (they unblocked his stent when they went in with the cath) and since we got home, all I've been able to manage with snow prep is to turn on the pool pump to 24/7, bring the blasted citrus pots inside, and get empty buckets and a bath tub filled for when I shut off the water at the main tonight. I can't deal with freezing pipes and I also can't deal with finding all the hose bibs and covering them tonight, so no water is the best option. I just really hope Centerpoint can keep their sh*t together for the next 3 days with gas and power. I don't want to go stay at the in-laws if I can help it, but his mom will insist if we lose power.

Sorry :(

Just said a prayer for you and your husband.

You should probably get some sleep. Hard things are harder with sleep deprivation. (I know. Easier said than done.)

Had nine inches of snow last week at my place. Didn't do a single thing to prep for it. Prepping is overrated imo. Couldn't get out of my driveway for three days but I had plenty of football on to keep me occupied.
