Yeah, I could see that. I only said Ducati cause you mentioned them and the body style of this new electric bike looks closer to one of them than it does to a Harley
Gotcha.. It was my first impression when I saw op pic...
I do believe Aprilia has been working on a electric bike as well

In the process of finding a 70-76 Z for a LS1 swap...
Buddy of mine had similar setup that was mind-numbingly fast
I used the recommended headersm which were too tight a fit on the passenger side. I think the LS 1 swap may be a better fit than a carbed small block. I used a low rise air cleaner, and the hood closed just barely.
Getting the Chevy parts to work with the Datsun parts can be tricky.
I had a mechanic drop it in, and I did most of the hook ups. Used the motor mounts from the Z swap book (can't remember the name). It was scary fast.
I also pulled the heavy front/rear bumpers, relocated the battery to the trunk, and added sport shocks/springs.
Then I got tired of working on it and got busy in life and sold it for $2600.

Cycle World has a video/write up on it and it actually sounds like a small turbine engine. I like motorcycles, Harleys, sport bike, etc, and I'd ride it. From what I gather they'll be taking them on tours doing demos, I'd damn sure like to give it a try. I think it's pretty good looking as well. Pretty surprising to see such a forward-thinking motorcycle being brought about by the world's most living-in-the-past motorcycle producer.

This is actually the second big move for them recently that is out of character for them. I few months ago they announced a low cost line of smaller bikes. They've got two models, one of which is not even American made...
The Harley Street 750...
$7500.00 new
The Harley Street 500 (this is the non-American one I think)
$6700 new

The two radiators sticking out the front are a bigger departure than the engine size or price. Both are simular in dispacement and price to a sportster. Its the difference in engines that suprised me. Harley cut its teeth on small dispacement engines years ago, glad to see they are getting back into that game.

I'm curious to see if this is something that Harley will look to expand on in the future.

The Wee-Rods....I had forgotten about them.
I hope they do dealer demos of the Livewire, I'd go check it out.

Part of the reason you ride a bike is because of the cool sounds it makes. Electric vehicles are quieter than mice pissing on cotton balls.
They need to add the feature:
Vrroom bicycle motor

Damn that's cheap.. I've yet to find a running Z for that kinda money..
McKinney Motorsports has a lot of parts for z swaps... The new popular swap happening now it the VQ engines from newer 350 and 370z's ...
which I've also consider b/c it a high revving v6 making 300+ hp w/a 6spd

Unfortunatly EPA regs are going to force this down their throat. The days of an air cooled v-twin are coming to an end. See project rushmore. The whole twin cooling thing is a joke, Harley is just scared to jump feet first into liquid cooled engines for marketing reasons.

I had also considered a Buick V6 (like they ran in the Grand National Series) because it was lighter and had a ton of aftermarket parts, including some serious stage 3 heads. But the motor mounts were readily availabel for the 350. At that time (15 years ago) Vortechs were also a common swap.

Could have been pretty sick..

Yeah you can really and truly put a 350 in just about anything..

About a mile up the road I pulled off at a Chevron and just sat there for about 10 minutes.
Yep, same here. I'd had a couple of close calls before of course but not one like that, it literally was the length of my foot peg that separated me from a hospital trip or worse. Made me decide I didn't like riding as much as I'd thought.

I've been riding for 30 years. I've lost count of the close calls I've had. That one was the closest though. It shook me up, I won't lie. I've always been on the look out anytime I see a car coming up to pull out. That's really what saved me. I was expecting him to do what he did. Had I not noticed him before he pulled out, I'd either be dead or seriously fricked up right now.
Bad thing is, I ride by that spot daily. I'll be riding by there when I leave the office here in a little under 20 minutes.
