Whoa now, the 30 year old Navy reserve guy on my FB feed made sure to remind me that you aren't supposed to say today is happy bc of all those that died. Not cool man

Correct. It is a not a day to be "happy". Try solemn or safe maybe.

I understand that, and I get the sentiment. But 90% of people view today as a day off work to hang out and have fun. They aren't doing anything wrong by enjoying themselves and not sitting quietly in remembrance. It's also annoying the "look at me" tryhards that feel it their personal mission to buzzkill everyone by pointing out all the dead veterans the day is about.
