I'm not a state/federal employee and it's a recognized holiday at my hospital.
I'm celebrating by sitting in my pajamas at home until this afternoon.

The entire community of people who were able to read and write had never heard of it. For all intent and purposes he pretty much discovered it. There were previously two completely separate worlds that he brought together. Pretty amazing thing that he did.

I always find it funny that a holiday that was created to celebrate groups that were being persecuted is now being made to be about another group of people that were persecuted.
Our society is pathetic. Always trying to cover up history because people can't deal with it.
