Lining the back of my pickup truck with visqueen and filling it with water is too much trouble, so I’m looking to step my redneck status up here in the LP. An in ground pool will be too flashy in my neighborhood.

Put it in to within like 6” of the top and fill with water. Backfill with dirt slowly to allow it to settle around it. Month or so watering regular. Pour concrete around it. Push it in a few years later and fill with dirt. Pour concrete over that hole and build cover and make outdoor kitchen. Profit.

I know you IRL, and a smaller above ground pool won’t fit your fat azz and dem kids.

If its not designed to be partially in the ground you probably don't need to do it.
Build a deck around it.

I don't understand the snobbery. It's not like anyone will know it's slightly above ground. He'll build a redwood deck around it for Pete's sake.

Splash pools on Siegen have a 25-year warranty steel wall above ground pool. They can set you up with a guy who will put in the ground, with drainage, leaving whatever height you what above ground for the deck to be built.

Use the link and pan to the left, below their sign is one in the ground, no deck, but you get the idea.
