Psychopaths don't have to be violent. They are just void of emotion. Sociopaths know it's wrong but do it anyway.
I'd say he is more of a sociopath and he feels like what he did was justified and now using the funds for the weapon to do what he feels right (I don't believe that is what he wants to do for real but based on the info given). I believe it's shameful to do something like this but I don't think he murdered that kid.

While I honestly believe he was getting the shite beat out of him, he should have thought about that before engaging the young man in an aggressive manner. Especially since he was told not to engage by the actual authorities.
Chances are had he not had that gun, he would have never approached or engaged Trayvon. So what would you call a person who starts shite knowing he is willing to use a gun to bail himself out if it goes south for him?
