re: Gulf Shores Golf Courses (Posted on 4/14/14 at 2:47 pm to choupic) Kiva is my favorite. Challenging course, tons of hazards, huge greens.
I forgot to mention we're high handicappers. We like to play golf, but we don't play a whole lot.

1. Kiva - my favorite and I stay there twice a year to golf, fish and decompress. I have shot my best and worst rounds ever there.
2. Lost Key - I love the course. It is tight in some spots but a but more manageable than Kiva.
3. Peninsula - great service and course - they had 27 holes - I have played there multiple time and always played just 18.
I would play the up front tees at Kiva and Lost Key if you are really a high handicapper. Call and check if the course is scheduled for punching during your visit. If so, get a discount.
I like twilight at Kiva - then drink a couple at the tiki bar, clean up then meet the women at Tin Top for food.
If I go to Destin then it is Raven at Sandestin but it is an all day trip.

Stay away from Lost Key then. In my opinion Gulf Shores Golf club is the best value. You can play for like $40 and it has always been in good shape.

I 2nd this. I played there last summer and had a great time. And you won't have near the amount of trouble you'll have around Kiva Dunes and Lost Key.

Don't know if has been mentioned yet but the Gulf Shores Country Club is a very nice club. It used to be owned by The Wharf so its still listed that way on most websites.

Let me clear up 1 item - I am more aggressive at Kiva - at Lost Ball / Key - I play to keep the ball in sight and on the course - At Lost Key I will not play the back tees and try not to use driver.
I try to keep the score decent with very conservative game management.
