Laying card board down first is one of those things you’ll find on the internet to help suppress weeds and then it’ll break down after some time under the soil. It’s not really about damaging the park

So in fact these low info growers are doing what the internet has told them and unsuccessfully growing produce.

I actually try to advise a grower who came from that northwest region. He follows a lot of things he has found online as growing tips. He grows absolute shite produce because of the misguided internet garden experts.

This is a really odd topic to troll

I'm not defending any "commies", whoever you think they are. I'm telling you that you're fricking stupid.

I don't know, I haven't thought about it in a year. But you're still fricking talking about it, aren't you? Seems they made an impression. All those homeless commies living rent-free in your head.

Look, if believing that there are people stupid enough to try to start a legit farm on top of cardboard helps to keep you off the bottle, then by all means keep believing it. I would recommend keeping those thoughts to yourself, though.

Bro. You don't lay down cardboard, and the same day add an inch of soil and plant your plants.

ETA: re reading and realize that we agree.

This year, I tilled my spot up and made my rows, then put down the black plastic and cut holes to plant through. It worked out pretty well, it really cuts down on weeds and work. I might be able to re-use the plastic next year if I'm careful.

So that photo to you looks like it's intended to be a permanent installation? You think people looked up farming tips, ran across cardboard, and just ran with that while ignoring all other information?

Fun though. And farming is still easy.

We grow alot of stuff in my garden and I am 36. Wife and I started doing it as a hobby and it is something we enjoy. Growing your own stuff is a good thing to learn and do.

My tomatoes were crappy this year...too much damn rain. Cucumbers exploded before they were ready to pick and only the peppers are worth a shite right now

My tomatoes are producing way faster than I can get rid of them. The plants grew into what is essentially a giant tomato bush. I’m picking daily.

I’ve had problems with my cucumbers this year as well. I’ve had trouble getting them pollinated, which is another issue that can arise on any size farm really.

First thing I'd do if I were starting a large garden would be to get honeybees established.

A buddy of mine brought one of his bee boxes over. Should be good to go now. People don’t realize how many factors are involved in a good harvest.
