Exactly right...and it sounds like a jet engine afterburner when you hit the handle valve.

Doesn't anyone use chimneys anymore?

Just coals and a little wadded up newspaper. You don't need a blowtorch, or nasty smelling juice, or any of that shite.

Did I miss where they cause cancer or something?

This is the only way to light charcoal stupid simple and takes less time than lighter fluid (which is gross anyway) or any type of torch.

A chimney works great for non ceramic grills. I prefer a mapp torch for my primo.

My brother in law has a green egg and uses a chimney. Why wouldn't it work for ceramic?

Ah, I guess I'm just one of the poors who still uses a Weber kettle.

Most versatile cooker ever made. I have a gas grill, Traeger, stick burner, and 22" Weber Kettle. I find myself using the Weber more than any of them.

My opinion only. A chimney gets the coals too hot too fast. I find it harder to regulate the temp. Sure, if I was just going to get it super hot (700*) to grill a steak it would work for sure. However, if I am smoking ribs at 225* I don't want to overshoot, because ceramics are hard to bring the temp back down.

What is a grill gun?

It's an assault fire starter

I loved my kettle when I had one.

There is a smaller chimney that you should consider investing in that should solve your overheating problems. Also cotton balls soaked in alcohol work great as fire starter for grill. If you have a chimney save your toilet paper things. They work great as starters. Too

As someone else said, the Weber is the most versatile grill out there. I've done brisket, chickens, lamb, ribs, butts, and pit bull puppies.

Why not just light a few (~20 or so) in your chimney then dump them on the unlit coals in your smoker and let it come up to temp that way?

Too funny, a group of us did an overnight camping/kayaking trip last weekend north of Payson, AZ and a buddy pulls one of these out to start the campfire. It got the attention of a few other folks in the campsite and they came over to check it out. It sure beats a Zippo and a can of Aqua Net.

I added some pics from beautiful Woods Canyon Lake for your viewing pleasure:
