I saw somewhere on Facebook someone posted some weird looking green lights. Looked liked they were about 5-10 miles offshore.

It spans 12 time zones and about half the northern hemisphere by land area. No, I don't think it is wild at all, that a vastly underdeveloped area with low light pollution, and decent media penetration has a disproportionate share of such sightings.

The shooting star was a Green Comet?

A meteorite is often as small as a grain of sand. Typically not much bigger than rock you can throw.
A comet is so big Bruce Willis and Ben Afleek can land 2 modified Space Shuttles on it and save humanity by nuking it in 2.
A comet can be 15 times larger than the earth and can even be seen from millions of miles away with the naked eye.
