I hope folks 30 minutes away drive to shop there.

It's a great time to be an American. Businesses opening, and jobs for many.

I wish the brave owners prosperity.

They say the hassle of driving 30 minutes round-trip to other cities for groceries puts wear and tear on their cars and uses a lot of gas.
30 minutes ROUND TRIP? That's 15 minutes there and 15 minutes back.

That is not very far.

I mean, it's good that they got a grocery store that will be even closer for the residents... but there are many people who live in places where they have to drive a LONG way into town to get groceries.

The city has been named a “food desert” by the USDA, meaning people there didn't have access to quality, affordable fresh food.
There is a Walmart literally 5 miles away. If somebody wants fresh food, it's a 12 minute drive away.

That's just an excuse.

They can ride a bus.

If you have a Walmart within 5 miles, you don’t live in a “food desert”.

And the person in the article was complaining about a 15 minute DRIVE.

It takes less than 10 minutes to go from Grambling to that green Walmart in Ruston and barely a minute more to County Market.

PS. Don’t ever go to County Market on EBT day.

There are countries with millions of people just like the ones in Grambling that don’t have grocery stores.

Some of these responses are sad. Why can’t some of you be happy for someone else for once? Miserable people some of y’all are

Right now, the store does not accept food stamps. A sign on the door says it will in the near future.

That parking lot will be empty for a while.

Grambling is an absolute shithole, that store will either get shoplifted into bankruptcy or absolutely trashed.
