This is just advice because I work around the oil and gas industry. If you are opposed to being laid off then the oil field is not the right place to be in.

hate to hear this, hulk...I got laid off once a long time ago. I have to say, the worst part of it all was just the feeling of rejection by the company...

it actually worked out very well for me, as I went back to school while unemployed and ended up with a degree and in a lot better situation than I would have otherwise been in...

just keep your head up and make good decisions and things will turn up for you...

No, I was in the National Guard and got activated my senior year of college and spend 18 months on activate duty. (11 months in Iraq, Field Artillery) I hearing all these horror stories about taking moths finding a new job, the longest I been out of a job was 2 months since I graduated from LSU. It was miserable last time around because I work in a speciality industry. I been thinking about a career change for around a year now. I was just wondering what the process, I have no "sales experience", however part of my previous job was to market my previous company to producers and generate business.

My wife is in O&G accounting. She suggests treasury would be an easy transition.

It's not the end of the world man. I was in a similar situation 6 years ago when my company was bought by a much larger company and I was laid off. I was without a job for a month but a much better job just fell into my lap. Sometimes things happen for a reason. Good luck

Randy must be tight in that cage under the ground? You tag teaming with Elvis or micheal jackson now. Heard Michael has gotten over his fetish with young boys and put on some muscle.

I was given my 60 day notice in July, interviewed with another company August, and got hired by a better company at a way better salary in September

I joke around that getting laid off was the best thing that ever happened to me.

You'll be fine

Railroads... they love hiring veterans, pay and benefits are good, and the rail industry is pretty secure. If you're in BR there is CN, KCS, UP.
