You are using the right argument for the wrong crime.

Is it an area of bumfrick Alabama that you need to go to in the next few years? Just blow it off, they won't extradite you for a speeding ticket and just let the statute of limitations take care of it.

Then it's twice as much when he tries to renew his license.

Either fight it or pay it or fight it and pay it + court costs.

I got running red light ticket in LA once. I was in left turn lane and I didn't know they put the signals on the opposite corner for left turns, I was looking at the lights over the road. I just assumed it was an unprotected green light for left turns. I didn't pay the ticket cause frick 'em, I live in Louisiana. Cost me something like $1100 to get my license renewed 2 years later. Had to send money to California and wait for certified mail receipt to get reinstated.

I think you are being a bit too literal. I am not a lead foot driver by any means, but most cops ignore 5 mph over the limit on any given day. I have a lifetime of driving proof. I also know that smaller town cops have been known to ticket drivers for doing this in hopes that the accused does not fight the ticket (a anecdotally).

What's the boards opinion on the 5mph over rule? Is it speeding as it relates to how most law enforcement officers carry out the law?

In Georgia, only State Troopers can give you a ticket for anything less than 10mph over.

I've always kept it at around 10 over on the interstate and 5 over on surface streets. Is this not common?

I don't know about that much of a cushion, but to claim a speeding ticket is BS in one breath, and to admit to speeding in the next is not helping OPs argument.

You might have mud in your tires thus throwing off your speed indicator. My advice to you is to fight it, but be careful where you eat lunch, because I bet the Chinese food there is terrible.

did you ask to see the gun?
I did this once around Henderson, LA. the cop told me I could see the gun from the back seat of his cruiser if I wanted to.

I think that county's police department is hurting financially if they're going that far.
