Boo we've been to this place many times. They serve amazing pizza and my husband loves their beer(it's a microbrewery that does really small batches). I've never been a beer drinker. Wine is the only other alcohol they serve. I've gotten wine there several times. Just never gotten called out on it by a server before

Whatever this is...

South Orangedale Sour

An AZ Beer Week collaboration with our South Scottsdale neighbors Papago Brewing Co! This wheat based ale is a tart spin on Papago’s popular Orange Blossom, and was made with 5 pounds of Seville orange zest, Madagascar vanilla beans, and soured with lactobacillus and American ale yeast. Think tart orange creamsicle…mmm. (Fun fact: Orangedale was the originally proposed name for the town of Scottsdale.)

It was good. Tasted like a tart orange creamisicle...like described.

poor sentence structure. the ale yeast did not contribute to the souring quality

I liked it, husband did not. He was drinking some rum barrel aged porter. Super strong beer that you could taste the rum in (beer was like 9.5%).

I'm still not much of a beer drinker though. But I'll taste different ones. There have been a bunch of small breweries that have popped up here in the last couple years.

Would it change your mind to know that lactobacillus (the bacteria that gives it a distinctive tart flavor) is also found in the vagina and is essential for preventing infections?

That's actually a totally different species/strain of lactobacillus than what is used in sour beers, but it's still sort of gross to think about. Similar lactobacillus bacteria is used in sourdough bread.

Boo you forget my profession

Of course I know what lactobacillus is. We give it to patients at work all the time. It's good to take if you have been taking a bunch of antibiotics so you can put back the healthy bacteria that you normally have i(that antibiotics kill along with the bad bacteria making someone sick).
