We still rent. It wasn't a planned move. Currently saving for down payment on a home. Our previous landlord had his parents moving back to the US from Iran and they wanted their house back so we had to quickly find another house and move...right before Christmas. I'm still waiting to see if we get deposit back. Our official last day was Dec 21...so I would hope we get something this week. I know AZ law is 14 business days and he legally has to give an itemized list of any deductions he made.

We are much happier in the house we are in now. Even though it's smaller...it's more newly renovated. Just more comfortable. Last landlord clearly the type to think he can do all the home improvements on his own...that house was a mess of horribly done home improvements The oven in that home was older than me.

I'd imagine you'd need a fairly hefty downpayment with home values out there ..

Sucks having to move right before Christmas..

Well we would be first time homebuyers so technically we could get away with 3% down plus closing. But yeah...we really want to stay in Scottsdale. Just a basic 3br/2bath 1400-1800sq ft home in this neighborhood we are currently in goes for at least 300K on up.

ETA: yes I will NEVER move again in December...we will extend lease a few months or go month to month whenever we move so we don't have to move in December.

When I have, it was by basting with butter & crystal.

Sometime plain and sometimes finishing them off by shaking in a bucket of wing sauce.

They're ok. Don't forget good blue cheese dressing & celery.

Can you get a pretty good sellers contribution? We won't have 20 percent either because a house will be in the 320k range but I'm shooting for either finding a foreclosure or getting a 10k sellers contribution

The carpet in our old house was horrible. We asked for it to be replaced before we moved in and he refused. The ac didn't work properly and it caused us to have really expensive bills in the summer(everytime I asked him about it he just told me to make sure I replaced the filters). I bet he doesn't even get the carpet replaced before his own parents move back in. Seriously...it was bad...stained and old and buckling up in places. We dealt with it because the location of the house was so awesome.

Yeah same here...we are in a great location...and we have two garage spots....but the real estate is so expensive...they say this town is getting whiter younger and richer because of the dink families(dual income no kids)

Not sure really. Scottsdale is a very desirable area though so I would imagine no. My realtor also mentioned to us about mortgages that includes closing costs in it. Depending on how much we have saved when we start seriously looking...we might consider that(I realize it's higher interest though).

After living in a place with a 2 car garage you really cannot go back to no garage after that. Last place was semiattached(looked like it was attached to house but you couldn't access garage from inside house). This one you can access from house and I was so excited about that
