Grew up there (as much as a military brat can grow up anywhere ) and got married there. Hope to end up back there once I'm done with the military.

Definitely hit up the Tower of the Americas, HemisFair Park, the Alamo, the Riverwalk, all that jazz.

Go to a Spurs game. AT&T Center is one of the most underrated venues in the league when it comes to fan support, and with the playoffs right around the corner, it's always a good time.

Go to SeaWorld or Fiesta Texas if you can.

Institute of Texan Cultures downtown is great if you like museums (or hit up the Witte Museum/SA Zoo if you have kids--sorry, have only read the OP so idk).

My personal favorite Mexican restaurant in town is Tomatillo's (on Broadway). You will not be disappointed!
