I hit something Friday and made my bushing slip in my propeller hub. Took two hours to come home at 3 mph.

Will get new bushing and a spare propeller with all the fixings today.

I am kicking around whether to have it straightened or buy another. My motor is an antique, but there is a junkyard for boats over in Tampa. I may be able to easily find another one. Hell, I may do both, just in case.

The original prop stop!

As a kid in 6th grade, I had a 9.9 Johnson. Used to keep spare shear pins and cotter pins in my tackle box.

Hit a stump, paddle to the bank, change it out and keep going. I thought I was Burt Reynolds playing “Gator” the way I’d run the lake.

I can’t imagine parents today letting a 12 year old head out on the water from dawn to dusk just about every summer day.

ETA: My bad. It was a 9.5. The 9.9’s came out a few years after mine which had a more rounded shape.

She was funny.Forget she passed.RIP Cochita.

In this show she walked around in a nightgown cracking jokes at the men that hung out downstairs.A garage or taxi stand? The Sitcom was based around the fact that upstairs was a whorehouse.

Morning farad.

Same here Frog! I would leave the the house in the morning when I was 7-8 and run the creeks and rivers. I played in old antebellum homes way back in the reservoir flood plain in Mississippi. Running trot lines or whatever. Always bringing home artifacts and food for the table. Thought I was Tom Sawyer.

I came home,as a kid,when I heard my Dad holler.He hollered 1x.I knew to get home.

When I was 14 we moved on the backwaters of the Coosa River here in Upper Gumplandia, where a couple Creeks empty into the River.

My Grandfather brought his brothers 16 ft. aluminum boat with a 1958 8 hp. Mercury and gave it to me.

It was on then. When we found the opening of Big Wills Creek,we felt like we had discovered the amazon.
