That’s cool. Not sure how well it would hold up in Louisiana humidity with no airflow. But it looks nice

I suspect you could use sheet metal and if it keeps the inside water tight it should be fine. I think its pretty damn cool for someone who wants an outdoor kitchen. The door lifting up and covered space is cool too.
