Just going by what the shooter said was his reasons for doing it.

He's a fricking nutcase... in his mind that might be the reason but in reality he's just a fricking nutcase.

it actually sinks in to the general public what a HUGE problem this is

I think it is one of those things that will always just be swept aside. The general public does not understand mental illness and it is so easy for them to just disregard it and tell the person to act normal.

I have a friend who would say this attitude makes you a terrible person. No white should stand by and watch their people do such racist things to blacks. Honestly find it ironic but I wouldn't say anything to him. I stay out of it.

Very true. That or they think that meds will just fix all of it. Obviously meds are a big part of mental health treatment, but not the sole fix for it.

closing down mental institutions, releasing the wackos back into society and not keeping them for long enough is a problem. We need to re open the institutions and hold these people like prisoners.

Well and they need to be the right medicines. I doubt many people are actually going to a psychiatrist to get a prescription.

When I went to my GP he told me its basically just a grab bag and they just prescribe what is popular.

And it think it's kind of a shot in the dark with medications. Some work on people some don't.

Oh I'm sure it is. Also I'm sure there are situations where they also will prescribe the meds they know their patient has a better chance of being able to afford to have it filled and take them vs another med that they may really need to be on but is very expensive.
