That's not the issue.
There will always be racism and intolerance. The issue is people being so intolerant that it results in people killing other people because of it.

I really don't get it... How can a flag or a statue affect someones day so much that they are actually offended.
I'm with you on this. People just like to stir up shite over things that don't even directly affect them.

I still don't think the flag should be on state property.
I agree with. Like I said in the other thread...people are free to fly it in front of their home, wear it, whatever....just shouldn't have that flag flying over state/local government property. That should be pretty obvious.
Now the whole thing about the General Lee is just ridiculous.

by JBeam That being said, I do think its pretty absurd for the NRA to blame the victims for what happen. They've officially gone full retarded. How quickly the focus on this incident has changed is pretty alarming.
NRA didn't blame anyone, a member of their board made a personal statement not on hehalf of the organization

It doesn't matter to me. Remove the flag or keep it, I will get the same amount of sleep at night... I think if more people worried about themselves and their fmaily and focused on making that better it would be better than going around being "offended" by shite. Not directed at you JB, but people are fricking pussies these days.

Sure it is. Guns kill people and flags cause racism. The TV told me so.

I disagree. The issue is mental illness and this country's unwillingness to properly diagnose and treat it... even if that requires mandatory institutionalization.

Sure you can. Just because some companies like Amazon choose to pull them due to politically correct bullshite doesn't mean that they are banned completely.

Freedom for business to decide whether they want to sell them or not, I'm fine with that

As long as there are differences aesthetically this will always exist. Why try and change that. Unless people are hurting people then just avoid the people that are morons. Seems easy enough

You're right. I do think that anyone that takes things that far is mentally ill. Racism was just the trigger this time.

DING DING DING WE HAVE A WINNER
THIS is the issue. I don't know how many more mass shootings we have to have and the media briefly covering mental illness before it actually sinks in to the general public what a HUGE problem this is. We simply do NOT have enough mental health beds to treat people.
Ex: In the PHX area we are hugely lacking in children/adolescent psych beds. We have had 12-13 year olds try to kill themselves(that's right 12-13) and they will sit on our floor until a psych bed is available. Our nurses are not in the least trained to deal with a fragile psych kid like that. We basically babysit them. Many time.....the wait is too long for a psych bed....the doctors are forced to just send the child home. So this obviously troubled child got no real help and is just going home now.
Those are the kids that grow up, their mental health totally ignored, and either eventually do succeed in killing themselves....or take out others before they kill themselves.

From accounts that I've read this guy had black friends fairly recently. I don't think racism was the trigger at all. I think this kid is fricked in the head and somehow ended up using racism as a means to carry out some delusional fantasy.

The signs are all there and still no one has done anything about this retard until it's too late.
