Just off that link alone, it has to have been an accidental shooting. According to the victim, the officer acknowledged as much.
If this is the case, the police need to come out TODAY with a statement clarifying that that is what happened and they are investigating whether or not possible legal charges for negligence are in order.
The issue I have with this incident is that it sounds like the police continuing to have guns drawn when it became evident that they were dealing with a mentally handicapped person who was unarmed and a COMPLIANT man with him who was also unarmed, was completely unnecessary and only served to create the potential for an accident.
Pretty inexcusable if that turns out to be an accurate account.

My point in saying that is there are a lot of people on the OT that claim all you have to do is comply with the police and you won't get shot...
Perhaps that isn't true, and you can get shot for doing everything right?

I still want to know what happened where the video mysteriously is missing. I can't imagine anything that makes this shoot OK, but why is that piece of the video not shown?

I was always taught to never point a firearm at something I didn't intend to shoot, and to keep my finger away from the trigger until ready to fire. Maybe they were taught something different?

I know you said this facetiously, but that is legitimately surprising to me. If they've got their weapons drawn and a shot rings out, particularly one that was unexpected as it sounds, the instinct to shoot has to be pretty strong.

comply and don't die only works optimally when both the cop and the alleged perp comply with the rules that they've been given.
