Genealogy search question

Has anyone ever sent off to USCIS to do an Index Search? After 8 months of finally checking the status, it was finally listed as "completed." Evidently I'm supposed to receive a letter summarizing the documents they have on file. Anyone know how long I have to wait for the letter? It was 11 days ago that it was completed. TIA.

quote:If you can't find an immigration doc online or at a courthouse, you have to send off to do an index search. The only result the search gives you is which docs they have on file for the person you are looking for. If they do have any, THEN you have to do a separate records request for any of the docs you want to obtain. It's a pain and they are behind. Kind of annoying that I have no indication immediately of what the search results were despite them having an email address for me.
