Less than 10% of white southerners are part black.

That would be expected for a Sicilian, as Sicily is right near Northern Africa, and they aren’t pure Italians.

Even without the Muslim invaders they have a lot of issues nonetheless! There’s a reason the British settled so many new places.

Some British people actually do tan well, but mostly they are English. Sounds like you might be more Irish and Scottish.
Yea due to my mom’s side I have more Scot/Irish than my dad does. Funny thing is people always think my dad is Italian because he has darker skin and hair.
I favor my mothers side which is lighter complexion, blonde hair, blue eyes

There’s certainly the possibility the tests were correct and my parents wrong, but the 3 names in question are 100% German. My dad also traced his lineage back to when they came to the US. His family is Cajun and traced was able to be traced to Canada all the way to Alsace-Lorraine. His results didn’t exactly match what they know, but he doesn’t know much about his mom’s side. Who knows but I’m not sure I think ancestry.com is gospel.

Couple that with corporations invading your space and look for more private, less commercial sources. If you are from the South, odds are good the PoPo already have DNA from somebody in the family tree.

must be mistaking him for Sicilian, most Italians I see aren't any where near dark complected

As I mentioned above, most “Italians” in America are really Sicilian, so they have even darker features than real Italians (who do have some of the darkest features for European standards, although some are blonde too)

Yea pretty much but we know most people just say Italian. He has 0 Italian/sicilian blood though

It got mine down to perfection based on what my ancestry researched showed. You should trace your ancestry and then you will know for sure.

Scottish and Irish people often have dark hair but then they have pale skin to go along with it. We probably know many people like this. There are some Spanish people that have the same thing going on (as a result I, an Anglo, tan better than some of my Mexican friends lol)
There are some English people that have dark hair and skin, think Russell brand or Sean Connery. They tan well and have dark hair. They get mistaken for Spanish or Italian but they are English.
I myself have blonde hair and blue eyes but then I tan well. Blonde people often tan better than the dark haired pale Irish and Spanish people I mentioned above. But if they are more strawberry blonde then they probably don’t. They probably burn just as easily, if not more so.
People with reddish hair burn the worst.

Since the species Homo originated in Africa, a tiny bit of that DNA is not a surprise. Same with Neanderthalensis DNA.

If he is ulster Scot, He is possibly mixed with English and Scottish. Although they are referred to as “scots irish” (and ulster Scot in britain) a good 30% of them came from England to Ireland, as opposed to Scotland. So some are in fact “Anglo Irish” although as a group they started calling themselves Scots Irish to decipher from the “nasty Irish Catholics”. Before the Irish Catholics came to America they mostly just called themselves Irish

Supposedly most of the French Canadians are distantly related to each other as they weren’t a huge group that came over. Louisiana is interesting because you had the Cajuns who came from Canada, people who came straight from France, and then people from the French colonies that sort of failed over time due to revolution. Must have been a real interesting place way back in the day.

Yes you are correct. Our surname hails from England and there are two major streams of it. One was English puritan and the other Ulster Scots. My ancestors were very likely part of the plantation of ulster in the 1600’s where the crown pushed people to settle there and displace the native catholic landholders

I went back a few generations but started seeing ancestors arrested and some cousins married so I stopped.

Very cool!
My paternal ancestors were from England, came in the early 18th century, although a lot of the families they married into here in America were from the Ulster Plantation to America as well.
My mother is more Scottish than English, but my father is the opposite. All of my great grandparents were born in Texas, but before that 7/8 of them had ancestors who came here from other southern states, and probably part of that heritage is from ulster as well, for all of them.
The south is really just a big mix of Ulster Scots and English with some more recent immigrants here and there.
The number of Americans who can trace their ancestry back to the colonial days is a lot higher than people realize.

Were they French or Spanish? I didn’t find any cousin marriages out of all my ancestry so I’m not sure if it happened all that often in the south. I also didn’t find anybody having children before the age of 18, which I was also sort of shocked by.
Cousin marriages actually seemed to be a bit more common with the wealthy French or Spanish, from my time doing friend’s ancestries.

My grandfather did a lot of genealogy research and follow-up work by myself has my family pretty well documented. Still, I've been tempted to do the Ancestry DNA to see if we can trace further back, and see if there are any distant relatives still in the old country.
If I could convince my wife (no pics) to do the Ancestry kit that would be really interesting to me. Her mother's (no pics) side is Eastern European and a lot of relatives were killed in World War II and a lot of the family history and documents are long destroyed. The few relatives that made it out of Europe after the war never talked about it.
