For all the talk about various countries and states, California has been perhaps the most effective area in the world at handling this.

California has:

Many high density urban areas like SF, Oakland, LA et al

Tons of travel from Asia when this was spreading

Lots of tourism / business travel in general

Really, all the main ingredients people keep pointing to as making places more likely to have massive issues.

Yet, their death rate per capita has been shockingly low.

Whatever they did differently, it seems to have worked so far.

What if Newsom proposes this. What will your thoughts be then?

If it's based on the best available data and the experts in the various fields conclude that it's the best decision? Then yea.

If it's not based on the data that they have, then no I don't think I'd agree with that position.

I guess I have a question for you. Would you ever vote for a politician who goes on record saying that shutting down the national economy was the right thing to do given the information we had?

California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Tuesday a guide to how Californiawill reopen society and the economy across the state as officials weigh lifting restrictive orders meant to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

Newsom became the first governor to issue a statewide stay-at-home order on March 19. He said Tuesday that the order and similar policies have successfully minimized California's Covid-19 outbreak, which has infected more than 22,348 people across the state and killed at least 687 people in California as of Sunday, according to California Health and Human Services.
